Mechanical

As mechanical devices operate, heat is generated, excess forces cause heating, friction, misalignment, improper lube, improper belt tensions can all cause heating. Exceptions which are able to be located include misalignment of coupled equipment, over/under lubricated bearings, over/under tension of belted drive systems, excessive friction, defective equipment. System must be under load, clear line of sight is required, protective guards must be off. The benefit thermal imaging has over other testing equipment is non contact, non destructive, no interruption of service, can be performed remotely, reduce down time due to sighting of defect before catastrophic failure. Our Thermographer being a registered electrican has the skill and knowledge to use other testing equipment to ‘back up’ findings. Any thermal imaging inspection is limited by operator knowledge/skill, weather conditions do effect results, emissivity of a surface also effect results.

  • Items to be Inspected – Motors and generators, electrical connections, rotor and stator, bearings, couplings, rolling element bearings, belts, gear boxes.
  • Reporting – All imaging and reporting are to be carried out complying with the Infraspection standards, Thermographer and end user must comply with these standards

NOTE: Our Thermographer has over 20 years of experience in the electrical trade which deals a lot with mechanical services, he is well experienced in domestic, commercial and industrial installations to further enhance the credibility to the report findings.
