Electrical
Electric current flowing through conductors generates heat, heat rise causes many defects, defects may be present for weeks prior to failure. Detectable Conditions may include loose/Deteriorated Connections, overloads, unbalanced loads, open circuits, inductive heating, defective equipment. The required conditions to carry out a electrical thermal survey include the system being under load, clear line of sight is required (Note: Thermal Imager can not see through cover panels). The benefit thermal imaging has over other testing equipment is non contact, non destructive, no interruption of service, can be performed remotely, reduce down time due to the sighting of defects before catastrophic failure. Our Thermographer (being a registered electrician) has the skill and knowledge to use other testing equipment to ‘back up’ findings.
- Items to be Inspected – Generators, Transformers, Circuit breakers, Overheated bus + switches, capacitor banks, bus ducts + switchgear enclosures, lightning arrestors + insulators, all current carrying devices under load.
- Reporting – All imaging and reporting are to be carried out complying with the Infraspection standards, Thermographer and end user must comply with these standards.
